RAVA KESARI

Hi folks
This is a simple sweet with a few ingredients. It's served in a breakfast platter in Tamilnadu. There are so many versions of it. Some prefer with oozing ghee. But I prefer minimal ghee with it. Do try this simple recipe and surprise your family members.
INGREDIENTS
Double roasted rava - 1 cup
Milk - 1 cup
water - 1.5 cup
sugar - 3/4 to 1 cup
Kesari powder - a pinch
Ghee - 4 tsp
cardamon powder -1/2 tsp
cashew for garnishing

PREPARATION

  1. Take a pan , keep it in a medium flame. Add a tsp of ghee , fry the cashews till golden. Remove the cashews
  2. In the same pan add 1 tsp of ghee and roast the rava (even it is double roasted ) for 5 min. Remove it from the pan
  3. Take another pan add milk , water and allow it to boil for 5 to 7 min. Add the kesari powder
  4. Now add the roasted rava , cook for 5 min .Add the remaining ghee.
  5. Add sugar and cook for 2 min . Add the cardamon powder and mix well. Cook till all water and milk is absorbed to the rava
  6. Transfer it to a plate coated with ghee, garnish it with cashew . Allow it to cool if you want it to cut to pieces. You can serve hot or cold

Note

  • You can add 1/2 cup milk and 2 cup water . But dont alter the rava quantity
  • Make sure you buy double roasted rava . If you buy normal rava roast it to get a good texture
