Papaya wine

Prawn thokku


Ingredients
Prawn - 250 g
Onion - 2
Tomato - 1
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
Green chilli paste - 1 tsp
chilli powder - 2 tsp
Kashmiri chilli powder - 1 tsp
turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Salt - as required
Oil - 2 tbsp
Cinnamon powder - 1/2 tsp
Fennel powder - 1 tsp

Method

  1. Clean and de vein the prawns. Marinate the prawns with salt and half of chilli powder for about 30 min
  2. Take a clay plot / pan . Pour oil . Once the oil is heated add the curry leaves , ginger garlic paste , green chilli paste and saute for 3 min 
  3. Add the cinnamon powder , fennel powder and saute for 2 min
  4. Add the finely chopped onion and saute till it is translucent . Add the tomatoes and saute for 2 min . Now add the chilli powder , turmeric powder and kashmiri chilli powder and saute till the raw smell of the masala goes.Pour a cup of water and close the lid and cook the masala in a medium heat for 10 min . Cook till oil separates at the edges.
  5. Now add the marinated prawns and allow it to cook for 5 min . Add required salt . Tasty yummy prawn thokku is ready . Serve with chapathi , idiyappam , puttu.
Note .
  • Dont overcook the prawns. Cook for 7 min if your prawns are big
  • You can add curd to improve the taste of thokku
  • You can also add coconut paste ( 1 tbsp) to improve the taste.
  • If you love spicy thokku you can also add pepper powder to it
