Ingredients
Maida - 1.5 cup
Baking powder - 3/4 tsp
Sugar - 1cup( unpowdered)
Egg - 3
Vanilla essence - 1 tsp
Salt - a pinch
Unsalted butter - 3/4 cup
Milk - 1/3 cup
Cocoa - 2.5 tbsp
How to make
- Grease a 8 inch cake pan and set aside
- In a bowl add the maida ,baking powder and salt.Sieve it and set aside
- In a bowl add the butter .Beat it with a hand mixer or whisk
- Now add the powdered sugar .Combine well with the butter and beat it till it is creamy
- Now add the vanilla essence and mix it well
- Add the egg one by one .Beat it for 2 sec after adding each egg.Scrap the sides occasionally with a spatula
- Now add 1/3 of the maida mix beat it for 5sec.Add 1/3 of the milk ,beat it for 2 sec.Continue till all the maida mix and milk is added.
- In a small bowl add about 2.5 tbsp of cocoa and 2 tbsp of hot water ( medium hot).Mix it well with the help of fork or a whisk
- In a bowl ,take about 1/3 of the cake batter and mix the cocoa with the help of a whisk
- Preheat the oven at 180c for 10 min
- To the prepared cake tin ,add about 1/3 of the vanilla cake batter .Gently tap
- Pour the chocolate batter .Pour alternately and gently tap each time .Make some design at the top with the help of toothprick .Dont insert it deep as it will alter the bottom layers
- Once done ,bake the cake at 180 c for 30 min . With the help of toothprick , check whether it is cooked.
- Transfer the cake to a cooling rack and cut once its cooled
